Defining the Problem
Problem Statement:
Commercial fungicide can be harmful if it is left to leach into the soil and ground water of an agricultural field or local surface water. A source of this fungicide leaching can be the cleaning of equipment that is used to spray it on the crops. Our project is to design a best management practice that minimizes the amount of concentrated fungicide rinsate from contaminating the local watershed.
Goal:
To design a simple best management practice that together minimizes the ecological impact of the fungicide as well as makes the method of cleaning the equipment as simple as possible.
Objectives:
-
Out of the fungicides used, determine which fungicides to design for based off of majority that can be treated.
-
Compile a list of BMPs that can retain the fungicides for the desired retention time.
-
After defining the most useful BMP to use, create a CAD design of the system.
